Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this another partisan fact-checker?
Nope. FallacyFighter analyzes arguments, not sources. It doesn't label sources as "unfavorably biased" (everyone has biases) or "untrustworthy" (who's to judge?) - it teaches you to spot flawed reasoning regardless of who's making the argument. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Wall Street Journal - all use fallacies. It assesses them all equally.
Q: How is this different from Ground News?
Ground News shows you how each source is biased and how they differ in coverage - excellent for awareness. FallacyFighter trains you to spot logical fallacies yourself, developing a crucial skill transferable to every area of life. Think of it this way: Ground News shows you the problem, FallacyFighter teaches you the solution. They're complementary tools.
Q: Who built this and why?
FallacyFighter was built by a solo founder (me). I'm just a guy who's been wanting to sharpen my own critical thinking - especially when reading sources I tend to agree with - to help me avoid "echo chambering." As one of my virtual mentors often says: remaining as objective as possible and candidly admitting errors - even on one's own side - is incumbent on those who profess intellectual honesty. This tool helps hold me accountable to that standard, and I hope it helps others do the same - regardless of where you are on the social, political, & ideological spectra.
Q: Will there be a paid version?
That's the plan - but right now, this is a validation build to test demand. If enough people find it as valuable as I do, I'll add daily challenges, progress tracking, leaderboards, and a browser extension. You can join the waitlist to be notified if/when that happens.
